SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s basketball team fell 71-59 to East Texas Baptist on Thursday evening inside the Gold Dome. The Gents fall to 1-1 on the season with the Tigers improving to 1-1.

Jonathan Blount led the Maroon and White with 27 points with 11 coming from Donovan Williams. Blout along with Caden Cheramie tied for the team lead in rebounds with five each.

Leading by a pair at the intermission, the Blue and Gold opened the second stanza on an 11-2 run to push its lead out to 46-35 at the 15:13 mark – the first double-digit lead of the contest for either team.

The Tigers continued to press the advantage further over the next six minutes grabbing its largest lead of the contest at 16 points, 56-40, with less than nine minutes to play.

The Gents answered with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to eight points, but it’s as close as the Maroon and White would get the remainder of the way.

Justin Felicia recorded a double-double to pace ETBU with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Erby Thompson added 10 points for the Tigers.

The Gents shot 35.7-percent from the field while the Blue and Gold connected on 45-percent of its shots from the floor.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 as the Gents host Louisiana College. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
