Blount named SCAC Player of the Week

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary men’s basketball player Jonathan Blount was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Blount averaged 26.3 points during the Gents three games in five days to pace Centenary to a 2-1 record. The Shreveport, La., native is 30 points away from breaking the 1,000-career-point plateau. The senior scored a season-high 28 points in the Maroon and White’s victory over intra-city foe LSU-Shreveport. Blount added 27 against East Texas Baptist and 24 against Louisiana College.

He finished the week shooting 68.6-percent from the field, 66.7 from behind the arc and was 23-of-26 from the charity stripe. Blount ranked third on the team in rebounds with 12, including 11 on the defensive end.

Centenary returns to action on Monday, Dec. 2 as the Gents travel to LeTourneau University for the first, road outing of the season. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
