SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary men's basketball player Jonathan Blount was named Centenary Student-Athlete of the Week.

Blount averaged 26.3 points during the Gents three games in five days to pace Centenary to a 2-1 record. The Shreveport, La., native is 30 points away from breaking the 1,000-career-point plateau. The senior scored a season-high 28 points in the Maroon and White’s victory over intra-city foe LSU-Shreveport. Blount added 27 against East Texas Baptist and 24 against Louisiana College.

He finished the week shooting 68.6-percent from the field, 66.7 from behind the arc and was 23-of-26 from the charity stripe. Blount ranked third on the team in rebounds with 12, including 11 on the defensive end.

Fans are encouraged to cast votes at every Monday. The student-athlete receiving the majority vote will calculate as 25% of the overall vote with the winner announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Centenary returns to action on Monday, Dec. 2 as the Gents travel to LeTourneau University for the first, road outing of the season. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
