Ladies travel to Mississippi College

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood on Saturday, Nov. 30 as the Ladies travel to Mississippi College. Tip is slated for 1 p.m. at MC’s Golden Dome.

The Maroon and White is looking for its first win of the young season after starting the campaign 0-4. Saturday’s contest marks the third straight for Centenary on MC’s campus. The Ladies fell to Rust and LaGrange earlier this season in the Zaxby’s Charity Tip-Off Tournament.

Briana Edwards paces Centenary in scoring and on the glass. The Shreveport, La., native averages 11.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. The sophomore averaged a double-double last week for the Ladies with 11.7 points and 10.7 rebounds.

Newcomers DeiAnna Hall and Haley Deshautelle sit second and third on the team in scoring behind Edwards. Hall averages 9.5 points per game with Deshautelle with 8.8 points.

Mississippi College is 1-1 on the season after claiming a 70-58 win over Rust College last weekend. The Blue and Gold’s lone loss on the season came in a 79-70 decision against LaGrange.

The Choctaws are paced by a trio of players in double figures. Dominique Walker leads MC with 18 points and nine boards per outing. Cara Beverin ranks second on the team with 17 points and Alexus Stirgus adds 12.5 per game.

Following the weekend slate, Centenary opens SCAC action on Friday, Dec. 6 as the Ladies host Austin College.
