LONGVIEW, Texas – The Centenary men’s basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season after a 68-56 victory at LeTourneau University on Monday evening. LETU falls to 1-3 on the campaign.

Jonathan Blount paced a trio of Gents in double figures with 16 points. Donovan Williams added 12 with 11 points coming from Brooks Pawsat. Caden Cheramie and James Sapp tied for tops on the squad with six rebounds each.

LETU jumped out to an early 11-point lead, but the Maroon and White erased the deficit at the 5:47 mark on a three-pointer by Pawsat thrusting the Gents into the lead at 23-22. Centenary closed the half on an 11-4 run to take an eight-point advantage into the intermission.

The Gents started the second half the way it closed the opening stanza behind a 20-12 run. A Saro Ntagha layup with just over 10 minutes remaining gave the Maroon and White its largest lead of the contest.

Justin Jones led the YellowJackets with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ladaria Brown added 14 points with Chad Williams chiming in 11 points.

The Gents, who outscored the Jackets 32-18 in the paint, connected on 40.7-percent of their shots from the floor including 41.7-percent from behind the arc. LETU shot 31.7-percent with a 33.3 clip from the three-point arc.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6 as the Gents host Austin College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.
