Ladies return to the hardwood on Monday; Hosts Rhodes College

SHREVEPORT, La. – After two weeks since its last outing the Centenary women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 16 against Rhodes College. Tip at the Gold Dome is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Ladies (0-5) are looking for their first win of the season after falling 98-47 in their last outing at Mississippi College on Nov. 30.

Centenary is led offensively by Briana Edwards. The Shreveport, La., native is averaging 11.8 points per game and also paces the squad with 9.8 rebounds per game. The sophomore stands 13th in scoring and ranks third in rebounds.

Haley Deshautelle, a Pineville, La., product that has led the Ladies in scoring in the last two contests, joins Edwards in double figures with 10.4 points per contest – a mark that sits 20th in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and third among freshmen in the league. Deshautelle tallied 17 at MC after posting a career-high 18 points against LaGrange College on Nov. 23.

The Lynx enter the early week affair unblemished on the campaign at 7-0 including 5-0 on the road. Lauren Avant guides a trio averaging double-digits on the season with 26 points per game. Symone Daniels ranks second on the team with 14 while Dy’nelle Todman is third with 11 points. Avant and Daniels are each averaging just over seven rebounds per game to lead the Red and Black.

Centenary closes out the pre-Christmas slate of its schedule at Millsaps College on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m.
