GymTalk: Saxon Reaux
Thursday, January 2, 2014

Hi Centenary gymnastics fans!

This is Freshman, Saxon Reaux bringing you the latest updates of our Ladies gymnastics team, but first I would like to tell you guys a little about myself. I am from The Colony, Texas and I am a biology major studying to become a physical therapist. The events that I do are beam and floor and I’m glad to be a part of such a great team.

As we finished this first semester off with our highest team GPA ever we continue to make great strides in the gym as well. We all had such a great Christmas break at home, and we were so excited to get back to Centenary to see each other! With this past Sunday marking the start of official competition season, we are all so pumped and ready to get this 2014 season started.

This week we are preparing for intra-squad on January 5th. We have had two great practices so far with my teammates focusing on putting full routines together. Senior, Robyn Price, continues to stay consistent on bars and is doing amazing full bar sets. Also congrats to our sophomore, Hannah Dee, on doing her blind to Geinger on bars! The energy and excitement we have been bringing to the gym is what keeps us going and is exactly what we need to keep improving. With season right around the corner we are pushing ourselves past our comfort zone and pushing to meet our team goals.

For this week, we are also getting to spend a lot of time together. We are literally together every second of the day, which seems crazy but we are having so much fun! One of my favorite things about being a Centenary Lady is the bond I get to have with my teammates and the memories I get to make with them. Monday night we went out and supported our Centenary Ladies basketball team at their home game, it was fun to see how much they have improved over the last month, and they played really well.

Before break we picked our secret Santa’s and we revealed them on New Year’s Eve at Rachel Satterthwaite’s house. Her family prepared a meal for all of us and it was delicious Cajun food for the team!  We have to have a little Louisiana every now and again!  We had a great time celebrating the New Year with our teammates and can’t wait to see what exciting things are to come in 2014.

Next week, is the start of second semester and our first meet of the season at LSU! I know this season will be great and I can’t wait for our fans to watch all of our new routines, and see what our Centenary Ladies bring to the table this year. Our hard work and determination is already paying off and we will continue to stay motivated.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year as well! Stay tuned for next week’s gym talk with freshman Allison Scates.

Love y’all,
