Ladies look to claim first victory in 2014 at Hendrix

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball team looks to start off the 2014 portion on the schedule with a win as the Ladies (0-8) travel to Hendrix College on Saturday, Jan. 4. Tip is slated for 2 p.m.

The Maroon and White fell 65-47 in its last outing against Louisiana College. Briana Edwards paced the Maroon and White with her fifth double-double of the campaign. The Shreveport, La., native tallied 14 points and 19 rebounds – both game highs. DeiAnna Hall added 13 points while Haley Deshautelle grabbed a career-high 18 boards.

Trio lead the Ladies in scoring this season as Edwards leads the team with 11.3 points per game which ranks 18th in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Deshautelle ranks 21st with 9.7 points per outing while Hall is two spots back with 9.3 points per game.

Edwards continues to be a force on the glass for Centenary grabbing 10.7 rebounds per contest.

The Warriors (5-6) are riding a two-game win streak and have claimed three of their last four contest following back-to-back victories over East Texas Baptist and Schreiner. Caitlin Kriesel-Bigle paces a trio of double-digit scorers with 14.2 points. Taylor Neal and Anna King sit behind Kriesel-Bigle with 10.6 and 10.4 points respectively. Jamie Tate leads the team on the glass averaging 13.7 boards while ranking fourth on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game.

Following the trip to Conway, Ark., this weekend, the Ladies return to the floor on Friday, Jan. 10 as they open SCAC play at the University of Dallas.
