Centenary opens SCAC play at Dallas, Colorado College

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s basketball team opens Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday, Jan. 10 as the Gents (5-5) travel to the University of Dallas for the first of a two-game road swing. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.

The Maroon and White close the road trip on Sunday, Jan. 12 at Colorado College at Noon.

The weekend contests boast three of the top scorers in the conference. Centenary’s Jonathan Blount sits second in the league in scoring with 22.6 points per game just behind Ryan Milne from Colorado College who leads the SCAC averaging 22.9 points.  Milne’s teammate Chris Lesnansky ranks fourth in the conference with 18.4 points per outing. Ross Davidson sits as UD’s top scorer with 16.4 points per game and ranks sixth in the conference.

Five of the league’s top rebounders will also be in action. Dallas’ Aaron Wyatt leads the pack with 7.8 rebounds per game followed by Lesnansky with 7.4 boards. Davidson and Nate Wilson join Wyatt among the leaders ranking fourth and fifth respectively with 6.7 and 6.4 rebounds per outing. Centenary’s Kendall Demouchet ranks 10th averaging 5.5 rebounds on the season.

Centenary fell in last outing at Rhodes College 67-64. Blount paced the Gents with 26 points marking his seventh game with 20-plus points this season. The scoring total was the fourth highest total for the Shreveport, La., native and just two points off his season-high. Caden Cheramie led the Maroon and White on the glass with eight rebounds.

The Gents are one of two teams opening conference play this weekend as Colorado College and Dallas opened league play against each other last Saturday with the Tigers claiming a 78-66 victory at Dallas. Colorado College is 7-2 overall with UD at 6-5.
