Ladies take to the road to open conference play

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood this weekend as the Ladies (0-9) search for their first win of the season. The road swing begins on Friday, Jan. 10 at Dallas and concludes on Sunday, Jan. 12 at Colorado College. Friday’s tip is slated for 8 p.m. with the Sunday’s start marked for 2 p.m.

Centenary fell 81-69 in its last outing at Hendrix despite career-high efforts from DeiAnna Hall and Kayla Ruth. Hall, who has double figures in scoring the last three outings, tallied 22 points surpassing her previous best of 15 points set at Millsaps earlier this season. Ruth provided 10 points for the Maroon and White – her first outing in double figures this season.

The duo each grabbed seven rebounds which tied for the team-best along with Briana Edwards who scored nine points.

Edwards and Hall rank 18th and 19th respectively among the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference’s scoring leaders. Edwards, who is third in field goal percentage in the SCAC, is averaging a double-double through nine games with 11 points and 10.1 rebounds per outing. Hall averages 10.9 points a contest with Haley Deshautelle just outside the double-digit producers with 9.5 points per game – which ranks 22nd in the league.

Marley Bustamante is the top scorer for the Crusaders while Danielle Davis paces Colorado College. The pair is tied for 11th in conference with 12.2 points per affair. Christy Allen leads the Blue and White on the glass with 9.9 boards – third in the league - while Courtney Tyus sits 10th in the SCAC with six rebounds per game.

Dallas enters the weekend slate riding a two-game, win streak after notching decisions over Colorado College and Dallas Christian. The Tigers are still searching for their first win after stumbling against the Crusaders in their last contest.
