SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball fell 77-53 to Austin College on Tuesday evening. The loss moves the Ladies to 0-18 overall and 0-9 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Roos improve to 10-9 and 5-4 in the conference.

Rhonda Martin posted a career-high 22 points to lead the Maroon and White with Rebecca Thompson adding 11 points. Linda Gomez Gil grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to lead the team.

Erin Riley paced the Roos with 17 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards. Chrissy Ray and Christina Kime each tallied 13 points with 12 coming from Kendall Heitmeir.

Centenary led for seven minutes in the first half, but a three-pointer with 9:37 to play by Heitmeir pushed the Roos in front 17-14 and the visitors never trailed the remainder of the contest. The Ladies held the game to within two points with 6:07 left in the half, but the Roos proceeded to close the first 20 minutes with a 9-2 run and take a 31-22 lead in at the break.

AC continued to apply pressure in the second half grabbing as much as a 28-point advantage – its largest of the game – at the 4:49 mark of the contest. The Roos forced a total of 15 turnovers and converted them into 14 points.

The Roos picked up 40 points from their bench in the win and held a plus-32 advantage in the category.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Feb. 7 as the Ladies host Trinity. Tip is slated for 8 p.m.
