SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s basketball team ran its season-long win streak to seven games as the Gents (14-8, 9-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) held off the University of Dallas on Friday evening. UD falls to 10-12 on the season and 4-8 in the conference.

Jonathan Blount paced the Maroon and White with 29 points – two shy of tying his career-high. Caden Cheramie added 19 points with 12 coming from Donovan Williams. Cheramie led the gents on the glass grabbing six rebounds – all on the defensive end.

Centenary shot 53 percent from the field and connected on 40 percent from behind the arc.

The Gents led for all but 16 seconds in the contest and led by as many as 15 points in the first half, but the Maroon and White found themselves fighting to claim the conference’s longest win streak of the season surpassing the six-game streak held by Trinity.

Centenary led 73-63 with two minutes to play in the contest, but UD cut the deficit to two points on a couple occasions before Blaine Blackburn hit a trey as time expired.
