Ladies and Gents conclude SCAC Championships with fifth place finishes

ROCKWALL, Texas – The Centenary swim teams finish the 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a pair of fifth place finishes. The Gents posted a score of 382 while the Ladies completed the four-day event with 409 points.

Rachel Olson led the Ladies claiming the third conference crown Centenary with a time of 2:06.34 in the 200-yard butterfly.

Austin Butler and Mitchell Foster finished second and third respectively in the men’s 100-yard freestyle to record the Gents two best finishes of the day. Butler posted a time of 45.778 with Foster adding a time of 46.19.

The pairing of Butler, Foster, Beau Montgomery and Arash Ataei tallied a time of 3:07.71 to finish third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

For the Ladies, Alex Taylor posted a time of 18:28.14 in the women’s 1650-yard freestyle to finish fourth. Chelsea Russell added a fourth place finish in the 200-yard baskstroke with a time of 2:09.56. Michelle Gaubert claimed seventh in the 100-yard free with a time of 54.54.

The women’s team of Olson, Russell, Gaubert and Ashley Giffen tallied a time of 3:38.34 in the 400-yard freestyle relay to finish fourth in the event.

On the men’s side, Collin Baker finished fifth in the men’s 1650 free with a time of 17:09.19. Cameron Brandao finished sixth in the 200 back with a time of 2:00.33. Kellen Bullock added a seventh place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.69. Juan Tapia finished sixth in the 200 fly with a time of 1:58.27.
