Ladies in fourth after first round of Linda Lowery Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – The Centenary women’s golf team sits fourth after the first round of the 2014 Linda Lowery Invitational. The Ladies compiled a first day score of 364 just six shots back of Division II and third place Southern Arkansas.

“It was a rough start to the season,” said head coach Emlyn Aubrey. “They know that’s the worst it could have been today so we can go forward from here.

Jamie Wright leads the Maroon and White through the first day with a score of 85 which places her in a tie for fifth place. Sarah Bradshaw is four strokes back of her teammate. The senior is tied for 13th with an opening day score of 89.

Taylor Thompson and Kylee Goldthorn are tied for 21st overall after shooting a 95 through the first round. Jessica Thigpen rounds out the Ladies’ grouping with a score of 97 which places her in 26th.

Laura Lindsey of Texas-Tyler leads the individuals with a first round score of 79 with Schreiner’s Amber Hernandez and Kaycee Bankert tied for second with a score of 81. UTT posted a first round score of 333 to lead the teams with Schreiner in second with a 339.

The teams return to the green tomorrow for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
