SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary gymnastics team will be hosting their first and only home meet as well as senior night this Friday, Feb. 21at 6 p.m. in the Gold Dome against fellow Midwest Independent Conference member Southeast Missouri State. Admission to the event is free to the public.

The Ladies hope to have a large crowd to support the team and the seniors on their special night.

"We are excited to finally be at home after five meets on the road. And this week's meet is senior night, which is always a bittersweet event. The team is always fired up and ready to perform to send their seniors out with a great meet, but it is the last time our three seniors will perform in front of their home crowd,” said head coach Jackie Fain.

Fain and squad will honor Robyn Price, Tawnee Hadd and Christine Langston following the night’s competition.

“This group of seniors has brought so much to the team both on the competitive floor and outside the gym. They will definitely be missed next year.”

The Ladies enter the weekend after posting two of their best team marks this season in the last two meets. The Maroon and White recorded its best score at Texas Woman’s Tri-Meet on Feb. 9 with a score of 189.150. Price claimed the all-around title at the meet with a season-best mark of 38.850.

Centenary followed the meet with a 188.600 at the University of New Hampshire’s Tri-Meet last weekend marking the second-best team score of the season.

“The team has had a good week of practice this week, and we are ready for this two meet week-end.  We are looking forward to going out there and making improvements from our last meet as we work on continuing to increase our team score each meet."

The meet is the first of two this weekend for the Ladies as they return to the competition floor on Sunday, Feb. 23 at TWU with a triangular meet that also includes SEMO. Competition on Sunday begins at 2 p.m.
