Price leads Ladies to season-best score

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary gymnastics team posted a team-best score of 189.70 despite falling to fellow Midwest Independent Conference member Southeast Missouri State. SEMO tallied a winning score of 191.750.

The Ladies also honored its three seniors Robyn Price, Tawnee Hadd and Christine Langston following the meet.

“This group of seniors has brought so much to the team both on the competitive floor and outside the gym. They will definitely be missed next year,” said head coach Jackie Fain. “They’ve led this team by example through their hard work. We continue to work hard every day and get better.”

Price claimed the all-around title with a score of 38.175 and was also named beam champion with a score of 9.70. The Marion, Ark., native added a fourth place finish on the bars with a score of 9.70.

Hadd placed second in beam with a 9.675 behind her fellow senior with Megan Desjardins tying for third in the event with a season-high 9.600 alongside SEMO’s Alyssa Tucker.

Stephanie Strickler finished second in all-around with a score of 37.90 – marking a season-best for the sophomore.

Sylvia Keiter was the Maroon and White’s top finisher on the floor with a season-best score of 9.725 which placed her in fourth in the event.

In addition to winning all-around and beam, Price became engaged to former Gents’ baseball standout Matt Creamer following the senior day presentations.

The Ladies will return to the floor Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in Denton, Texas against Texas Woman’s and SEMO.
