SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team dropped its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series falling 4-1 and 2-1 to the University of Dallas on Saturday. The Gents move to 3-5 on the season while UD improves to 6-5.

Four players posted multiple hit efforts for the Maroon and White with Chris Jones collecting three hits in the opener with Michael Schimpf garnering three hits in the second outing. Brooks Williams and Taylor Reed added two hits each in the twinbill.

Centenary out-hit the Crusaders in both contests, but UD capitalized on timely hitting to capture the series win.

Reed drove in the Gents’ run in the opening outing with Williams pushing the run across the dish in the nightcap.

Layton Tromba and Paul Arcement were saddled with the decisions in the two contests. Tromba tossed three innings in the opener allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks. Holden Novak pitched the final four frames allowing just one hit in his effort on the bump.

Arcement provided a complete-game effort allowing five hits and fanning eight along with one walk.

Mark Carlson, Denton Martin and Trevor Keele notched multi-hit efforts in the double dip with Martin Cronin (3-1) and Evan Eubanks (3-0) securing wins on the mound. Keele grabbed the save in the second outing.

Centenary returns to action tomorrow as the Gents and Dallas meet in the final game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
