Tennis falls at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – The Centenary men’s tennis team fell 7-1 on Saturday afternoon to Millsaps while women’s tennis team was swept by the Majors.

Anthony McMaster claimed the lone win for the Gents with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Charles Rees in singles play. McMaster along with Cameron Bueche fell 8-3 in the top doubles spot with the team of Zachary Provenza and Andrew Borel falling 8-0.

Bueche fell 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles slot with Provenza, Borel and Chris Matthews each being swept in straight sets.

For the Ladies, Lauren Beurlot and Ashley McHugh teamed in the No. 3 doubles spot to fall 8-5 to Bianca Suarez and Anna Brahce. Holly Clark and Michelle Gaubert paired together to fall 8-1 at the No. 2 doubles position.

Beurlot, Clark and McHugh each claimed games in the singles play for the Maroon and White while Katelyn Alexander, Katie Cornwell and Gaubert each were swept in singles action.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Mar. 15 as the squads travel to the Ozarks. Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
