Gymnastics posts season-high at Pitt tri-meet

PITTSBURGH- The Centenary gymnastics team posted a season-high 191.050 to finish third at the University of Pittsburgh tri-meet.  The host Panthers won the event with a score of 196.125 while No. 25 Kent State University finished second with a 195.975.

Stephanie Strickler led the Ladies recording season-highs on the bars, beam and all-around while tying a season-best on the floor. Strickler finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 38.775 while registering the top finisher for Centenary in bars (9.650), beam (9.725) and floor (9.775). Her 9.625 on the vault was third on the team.

Centenary also registered a season-high score on the vault with 47.925 surpassing its previous best of 47.875 as Tawnee Hadd, Robyn Price and Kellie Slater all tied season bests in the event with Price leading the team in the event with a 9.750. The senior finished fifth in the all-around with a score of 37.875.

The Maroon and White also picked up season-highs from Christine Langston on the bars with Megan Desjardins setting a season best on beam with a 9.70 and Slater adding a new benchmark on floor with a with 9.675. Slyvia Keiter tied a season-high on floor with a 9.725.

Centenary returns to the competition floor on Saturday, March 22 as the Ladies compete in the Midwest Independent Conference Championships in Bloomington, Ill.
