Netters fall 8-1 to Texas Lutheran

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary tennis teams dropped Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Wednesday to Texas Lutheran. Both squads fell by 8-1 decisions.

The Gents lone win on the day came in the No. 1 singles slot as Anthony McMaster secured a 6-0, 7-0 victory over Gunner Robison. Garrett Whipple forced his singles spot to three sets. Whipple fell 6-1 in the opener, but rallied for a 6-4 win in the second set before falling 10-7 in the decider.

McMaster along with teammate Garrett Whipple fell 8-4 to Robison and Sanio Dizdaradic at the No. 1 doubles position. Cameron Bueche and Jordan Sangalli fell 8-1 at the No. 2 doubles slot with Zach Provenza falling 6-0, 6-1 in singles play.

On the Ladies side, Ashley McHugh grabbed the lone victory in three sets with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 decision over Preslie Pavlich in the women’s No. 6 singles slot.

The pairings of Lauren Beurlot and Katelyn Alexander at No. 1 doubles and Daniela Ruelas Celia Sobelman at the No. 3 doubles position each fell 8-1 while Alexander fell 6-3, 6-0 in singles with Holly Clark dropping a 6-0, 6-1 decision.

Centenary returns to the courts on Saturday, March 22 as the two squads host Southwestern University at 9:30 a.m. The Ladies then host intra-city foe LSU-Shreveport at Noon.
