SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team dropped a 9-3 decision at NAIA No. 9 Louisiana State University-Shreveport on Tuesday evening. The Gents move to 12-13 on the season while LSUS improves to 27-7.

Aaron Quintanilla and Christian Sebastien logged multiple hit efforts for the Maroon and White in the setback as the duo each recorded a pair of hits as Centenary collected seven hits in the contest.

LSUS jumped on the board early scoring five runs in the third inning and added four runs in the sixth to capture the victory. The nine runs came off 10 Pilots’ hits.

The Gents’ first run came in the sixth as Dakota Brown scored on a Chris Jones’ sacrifice fly to right field nipping the lead to 5-1.

The Maroon and White added a pair of runs in the seventh as Sebastien doubled down the left field line to score Marc Martinez from second base. Martinez led off the frame with a walk and reached second on a wild pitch setting up the RBI hit. Sebastien later scored in the inning on fielder’s choice.

Centenary starter Taylor Henry (3-3) took the loss on the mound as he pitching 2.1 innings allowing five runs on four hits with a walk. In total, seven hurlers took the bump for the Gents.

Cam Ellis (2-0) recorded the win for the Pilots with 4.0, scoreless innings of work. Ellis allowed three hits and struck out three in the victory.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, March 28 as the Gents travel to Schreiner University for the first of a three-game series. First pitch Friday is slated for 2 p.m. with Saturday’s twinbill marked for a Noon start.
