SHERMAN, Texas – The Centenary softball team dropped the final doubleheader of the weekend at Austin College falling 9-0 and 5-0 to the Roos in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Ladies move to 4-20 and 4-8 in SCAC action while AC improves to 11-16 and 4-12 in the conference.

Mookie Allison and Whitney Patterson paced Centenary at the plate batting .500 for the twinbill while Cadie Hancock posted a .400 clip at the dish. The trio combined for eight of the Maroon and White’s nine hits on the day while Emma Viskozki added the lone remaining hit.

Lynsi Unruh was saddled with both setbacks allowing a combined eight runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts and four walks in 6.1 innings of work. Laura Perriloux tossed the 5.0 frames in one appearance surrendering six runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout.

The Ladies left a combined 16 runners on the bases in the double dip including nine in the second outing, but couldn’t manage to find the timely hit. Hancock led the squad in the affair going 2-for-3 while Patterson, Allison and Viskozki each totaled a hit. Patterson and Allison also reached base via a walk in the contest.

The two squads fought through four, scoreless innings, the Roos dented the board in the fifth with a pair of runs. That would be all the scoring AC needed despite adding three insurance runs in the sixth. Emily Low and Sophia Hernandez each drove in two runs in the contest with Taylor Steelman supplying the remaining score.

Victoria Herrera logged her second complete-game win of the day with eight strikeouts paired with two walks. The freshman fanned nine in the opener along with a walk.

The first game of the day saw the Roos jump on the board in the first inning plating three runs thanks to singles from Briana Hernandez and Low. AC added three more in the fifth before Hernandez used a three-run, double to cap the scoring and plate her fourth RBi of the contest.

Unruh tossed just a third of an inning allowing three runs on three hits and walking one. Perriloux finished out the contest with her only action of the day in the circle.

Patterson and Allison each logged two hits to combine for the only hits of the contest.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Apr. 4 as the Ladies host Trinity in the first two of a four-game series. First pitch on Friday is slated for 2 p.m. with the Saturday’s twinbill slated for Noon.
