SEGUIN, Texas – The Centenary baseball team fell 2-0 in the opening game of a three-game series at Texas Lutheran on Friday evening. The Gents moved to 14-15 overall and 8-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action while the Black and Gold improved to 20-10, 8-3 in the SCAC.

Aaron Quintanilla and Nic Parrott each recorded multiple hits as the Maroon and White tallied six hits in the contest. Quintanilla also reached on a walk along with Taylor Reed. Christian Sebastien and Dakota Brown logged the two remaining hits.

The Gents left 11 runners on base including leaving the bags full in the ninth.

Layton Tromba tossed all 8.0 frames for Centenary in the setback. Tromba allowed the two runs on five hits while fanning three and allowing a walk.

Dwayne Snider collected the complete-game win on the bump while fanning seven batters.

The Bulldogs plated their first run on the Von Wendel scored on a Ryan Hill sacrifice fly in the second inning. TLU added its second run in the third as Tony Gennusa, who reached on the only Gents’ miscue of the game, crossed the dish on a Derek Kanas RBI single to left.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 5 as the Gents face TLU in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
