Strickler in third at SCAC Golf Championships; Gents sit fourth

BOERNE, Texas – The Centenary men’s golf team is fourth after the first two rounds of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a 600. Hank Strickler leads the Gents with a 143 through the first two rounds in third place.

Strickler, who is just three strokes back of the top spot, shot a 70 in the opening round and followed with a 73 in the second round of the day. The two round score is the best of the season for Strickler surpassing his 147 at Mary Hardin-Baylor and Christian Brothers.

Jamie Gibson sits five strokes back of Strickler in a tie for eighth after firing a 72 and 76 respectively. The score ties Gibson’s best set at CBU earlier this season. Reese Chance recorded a two-round total of 155 (78-77) to sit in 18th just two strokes over his best of the season.

Jesper Thorsoe and Larry Balthazar round out the Maroon and White squad tied for 23rd with a 159. Thorsoe shot a 78 and 81 with Balthazar shooting an 83 and 76.

Schreiner’s Zach Oliver paces the individuals with a 140 through with Trinity’s Tyler Lehmann in second with a 142.

Schreiner leads the field with a 582 after the first two rounds followed by Trinity in second with a 591. Southwestern rounds out the top three spots with a 596 just four strokes better than the Gents.
