SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team concluded the regular season with a 14-8 setback to intra-city rival No. 8 Louisiana State University-Shreveport. The Gents fall to 18-20 on the season while their cross-town neighbor improves to 38-12.

Marc Martinez paced the Maroon and White with three hits while Dakota Brown garnered a pair of hits. Nic Parrott led the squad with a pair of RBI.

Devin Bench (0-1) was saddled with the loss with 3.2 frames on work in relief. Bench allowed seven runs on five hits. Six hurlers took the bump for the Gents in the contest. Starter Paul Arcement tossed 1.1 frames allowing five runs on three hits with five walks.

After trailing, 7-3 through the first three innings, the Gents touted four runs in the visiting half of the fourth to knot the outing at 7-all. Centenary used four hits in the frame and capitalized on a pair of Pilot errors. Brown, Chris Jones, Aaron Quintanilla and Martinez all logged hits in the inning.

LSUS answered back matching the Gents’ run total in the inning and never looked back scoring three runs in the sixth after Centenary added a run in the fifth.

Brandon Texiera (2-0), one seven pitchers on the night, picked up the win for the Pilots tossing an 1.1 innings allowing two runs on three hits. Cam Challand pitched 2.0 innings in the start allowing a pair of runs on the same amount of hits along with a walk.

Centenary turns its attention to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on May 2 as the third-seeded Gents face second-seeded Texas Lutheran at 4:30 p.m.
