Strickler finishes SCAC Championships tied for second; Gents finish fourth

BOERNE, Texas – The Centenary men’s golf team concluded the 2014 season with a fourth place finish at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a three-round score of 897. The team score was the lowest, three-round score of the season for the Maroon and White.

Hank Strickler paced the Gents with 218 over the three rounds to finish tied for second. The score was the lowest, three-round score of the season for Strickler besting his previous mark by 14 strokes. Jamie Gibson finished five shots back of Strickler in 10th and bested his previous three-round score by eight shots.

Jesper Thorsoe shot a 230 over three rounds to finish tied for 17th with Reese Chance a stroke back tied for 19th. Larry Balthazar rounded out the grouping in 23rd with a 236.

Zach Oliver of Schreiner was the individual medalist for the championship with 208. Cheyne Kendall from Schreiner, Jordan Cowart of Southwestern and Tyler Lehmann of Trinity each joined Strickler in second place.

Schreiner University picked up the conference title with an 866 with Trinity University in second with an 887. Southwestern finished five strokes better than the Gents to clinch third.
