SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s soccer team recorded its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win on Friday afternoon as the Gents downed the University of Dallas 2-0. Centenary improved to 4-2-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in conference play while UD falls to 4-4 and 0-3 in the league.

The Maroon and White tallied its first goal in the 19’ as Ivann Amaya scored his team-leading third score of the season to give the Gents the early advantage. Zach Kidder set up his freshman teammate to garner his first assist on the campaign.

Hunter Paul added some insurance for Centenary in the latter stages of the match as he took an assist from that started from Rylan Whan and Jason Aiken to notch his second goal of the season.  The score ties him with Kellan Klaus for second on the team while the assist is the team-best fifth for Aiken and the first for Whan.

Whan also grabbed the complete-game, victory in goal for the Maroon and White. Whan withstood 17 shots from the Crusaders and dismissed 10 shots on the evening.

Klaus paced the Gents with two of the five shots taken in the outing as Aiken posted an attempt to join Paul and Amaya.

Matthew Wise led UD with six shots on the night. PJ Hasson (1-2) took the loss in goal with two saves paired with the two goals allowed.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 28 as the Gents host Austin College. Kick is slated for 12 p.m.
