SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary volleyball team dropped both matches on the first day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional. The Ladies (2-13, 0-5 SCAC) fell in straight sets with Texas Lutheran and Schreiner University.

Rachel Perkins paced the offensive attack for the Maroon and White with a team-best 18 kills in the two matches. Perkins tallied 10 in the opening match against TLU and added eight kills in the finale of the night.

Allison Lazewski totaled 37 assists on the day including a team-leading 23 in the match against Schreiner. The freshman accounted for 14 assists in the three sets with the Bulldogs.

Kobi Stephens and Desiree Frey led the Ladies defensively for the day. Stephens recorded 12 digs to lead the squad in the contest with TLU while Frey led the team with 11 digs against the Mountaineers.

TLU took control of the match to open the day besting Centenary 25-16, 25-14 in the opening two sets before closing the match 25-9 in the final set. The Dogs posted an attack percentage of over 30 percent for the three sets including a clip of 46.4 in the final set. Centenary broke even in the attack percentage.

In the finale, the Ladies hung to the Mountaineers in the final two sets before falling 25-19, 26-24. SU took the opening set 25-16.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 28 as the Ladies host Trinity at Noon followed at 4 p.m. against Southwestern University.
