Whan named SCAC Men's Soccer Defender of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Centenary Rylan Whan was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defender of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, after helping the Gents go 1-0-1 on the week.

Whan recorded 15 saves without allowing a goal in 200 minutes of action in net. Against Dallas, he picked up 10 saves on the evening to get a 2-0 victory. He also added an assist in the contest. The sophomore followed with five more saves against the 'Roos in a 0-0 draw.

For the season, McKinney, Texas, native has 39 saves, which is second in the SCAC, and is third in the conference with an .867 save percentage. Whan is also tied for first in the SCAC with four shutouts.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 3 as the Gents travel to Trinity University for the first of two SCAC contests on the weekend. Match time is slated for 6 p.m. The Maroon and White close out the weekend at Southwestern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
