Wright sixth, Ladies ninth after first round at Al Jones Jr. Memorial Tournament

TYLER, Texas – The Centenary women’s golf team sits in ninth after the first round of the University of Texas at Tyler’s Al Jones Jr. Memorial Tournament. The Ladies shot a 375 in the opening round to sit back just two strokes of LeTourneau University.

Jamie Wright paced the Maroon and White in the opening round with a first round score of 79. The opening score sits Wright in sixth and five strokes back of second place.

Gabrielle Ford was second among the Ladies as the freshman shot an 89 on the day to sit tied for 26th overall. Taylor Thompson was two strokes back of Ford in the opening round is tied for 29th.

Haley Nidey and Toni Collaro round out the women’s team finishing 43rd and 44th respectively after the first round. Nidey posted a 116 while Collaro added a 127.

The host Patriots hold the top spot on the team leader board with a 300 while Laura Lindsey leads the individuals with a 69 in the opening round.

Centenary returns to the course on Tuesday, Sept. 30 for the final round of the tournament
