Gents finish third at Al Jones Jr. Memorial Tournament

TYLER, Texas – The Centenary men’s golf team shot a final round score of 300 to conclude the Al Jones Jr. Memorial Tournament with a 599 which placed the Maroon and White in third. The host University of Texas at Tyler claimed the team title with a 577 while Washing and Lee University finished second with a 587.

Jamie Gibson paced the Gents with a 146 for the two days. Gibson posted an identical 73 in the final round to match his first day score and finish tied for sixth overall.

Reese Chance was three strokes back of Gibson in the tournament. Chance shot a 76 in the final round after posting a 73 in the opening round which placed him tied for 17th. Larry Balthazar placed tied for 21st after matching his first round score of 75 in the final round for a 150 for the two days.

Cory Constanza improved his first round score by a stroke with a 77 in the final round to finish tied for 34th with a 155 for the tournament. Hank Strickler rounded out the Gents with a 76 in the final round, improving his first day score by five strokes and finishing tied for 41st (157).

Buddy Hallman claimed the individual title for UT-Tyler with a 137 for the two days. Nate gray from California Lutheran was second with a 140 while Conley Hurst of Washington and Lee finished third with a 141.

Centenary returns to action on Oct. 20 as part of the University at Arkansas Monticello’s Tournament in Cabot, Ark.
