Volleyball falls in five sets

HAWKINS, Texas – Double-doubles from a pair of freshmen wasn’t enough as the Centenary volleyball team fell in five sets to Jarvis Christian College on Tuesday evening. The Ladies moved to 2-16 on the season while JCC improved to 3-14.

Allison Lazewski and Desiree Frey each posted double-doubles in the outing. Lazewski tallied 43 assists along with 12 digs while Frey had recorded 14 kills and 14 digs. Rachel Perkins led the squad with 17 kills. Lindsey Long added 12 digs with Jayde Monette supplying 10 digs.

After being edged in the opening set 27-25, Centenary rallied back to take a 2-1 advantage winning the second and third sets 25-15, 25-15. JCC answered back to even the match 25-20 in the fourth set and sending it into the final set. The Bulldogs claimed the final set 16-14 and claim the match.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 10 against the University of Dallas in the first of three matches in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional.
