SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s soccer dropped a 2-1 decision on Tuesday evening following to Hendrix College on Mayo Field. The setback moves the Gents to 4-6-3 on the season while HC improves to 3-9-1.

The outcome is the first non-conference loss on the campaign for the Maroon and White which entered the outing an unblemished 3-0 in out-of-conference action.

The Maroon and White’s lone goal of the evening came in the 55’ as Zach Kidder took an assist from Ivann Amaya to cut the Warriors lead in half. The Gents despite recording a season-high 25 shots couldn’t find the equalizer to tie the contest.

Kidder’s score is his second of the season tying him for second on the team with Kellan Klaus and Hunter Paul. The Amaya assist is his first on the year.

HC struck early in the affair scoring in the 3’ off a goal by Alex Cummings. The lone score stood the opening stanza as the Warriors took a 1-0 lead in at the intermission. The Black and Orange added its second goal in the 50’ off a score by John Hablitz to expand the lead to two goals.

Austin Andrews logged two saves with two goals allowed in the complete-game effort for Centenary. Jerry Thomeczek pushed away five Gents’ attempts in the match in the win.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 17 as they travel to the University of Dallas. Kick is slated for 2 p.m.
