Russell, Montgomery lead Centenary swimming at Trinity

MONTGOMERY, Texas – Chelsea Russell claimed two events for the Centenary women’s team as Beau Montgomery won one race on the men’s side as the Centenary swim teams competed in a dual meet with Trinity University on Saturday with the Tigers winning 121-58 on the women’s side and 125-74 on the men’s side.

Russell took top spots in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:19.87 and added her second event victory in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.75. The Shreveport, senior also served on the women’s 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay that finished second.

Montgomery’s victory came in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.28. Montgomery added a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.40 along with a first place finish on the 200 yard medley relay team and the 400 yard freestyle team that finished second.

Juan Tapia finished third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:08.08 while Roberto Roig-Perez finished third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 55.63. Zack Harrison also added a third place finish in the 100 yard free with a time of 49.58.

Christy Wolterman and Alex Taylor finished second and third respectively in the 500 yard free for the Ladies. Wolterman added a time of 5:49.80 and Taylor finished with a time of 5:50.67. Wolterman also added a third place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:11.32.

Anthony McDonald and Andrew Borel added second and third place finishes in the 100 yard backstroke with times of 58.40 and 58.74 while Kellen Bullock and Andre Trahan finished second and third in the 100 yard breaststroke with times of 1:05.37 and 1:13.20.

Centenary returns to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 25 in a intrasquad at 11 a.m.
