SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary volleyball team snapped its losing streak as the Ladies rattled off a pair of wins in their tri-match on Tuesday evening. Centenary turned back Belhaven University 3-1 and avenged a previous setback by downing Jarvis Christian 3-0.

The back-to-back victories mark the longest win streak for the Maroon and White since recording wins over Rust College and LeTourneau on Nov. 1 of last season.

Rachel Perkins paced the offensive attack with 22 kills and 30 assists for the two matches. The junior collected a double-double in the opening match of the day with 14 kills and 19 assists against BU. The 14 kills was a team-best as the 19 assists tied for tops on the team with Allison Lazewski, who finished the night with 29 assists.

Desiree Frey added a combined 24 digs including a team-leading 14 in the win over Jarvis. Frey was among a trio of Ladies with double-digit digs in the match against the Blazers as Haley Cubberly posted a team-best 15 while Lindsey Long tallied 11 digs.

After standing deadlocked with Belhaven after the first two sets, Centenary rattled off decisions of 25-14 and 25-19 to claim the match – ending their skid. In the second match of the night, the Ladies garnered their highest attack percentage of the season with a .393 in the final set against JCC.

Centenary boasted a .241 attack percentage against Jarvis and a .258 against BU. Both marks were the highest since the Ladies recorded a .273 against Dallas Christian on Aug. 29.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 as they host Dallas Christian. Match time is slated for 5 p.m.
