SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s soccer team concluded its 2014 season as the Ladies (1-17-1, 0-11-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) drew a 2-2, double overtime tie with Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon. Schreiner improved to 5-9 and 3-8 in the conference.

Centenary picked up goals from Marissa Hughes and Madison Alexander in the effort. Hughes placed the Maroon and White on the board early with her second goal of the season in the 15’. The score placed her second on the team on the campaign.

Alexander knotted the contest in the 89’ off an assist from Hughes to send the match into the extra session. The junior’s goal was her third of the season which led the squad. The assist marked the first for Hughes.

Ruth Blackburn provided both goals for the Mountaineers. Blackburn’s first came in the 28’ off an assist from Monique Hutcheson to force the contest into a 1-all deadlock at the break. Her second, an unassisted score, came in the 80’ to place SU up 2-1 with 10 minutes to play in regulation. Blackburn attempted a team-leading seven shots on the day.

Erica Coker (1-12-1) recorded eight saves in goal for the Ladies. The sophomore faced 10 shots on goal from the Mountaineers as they totaled 17 in the 110 minutes.

Megan Morant (4-9-1) tallied four saves for SU. Morant faced six shots on goal from the Ladies, who attempted 10 shots on the afternoon led by Hughes’ four. Alexander chimed in three in the outing.
