Hey Ladies fans!

This is junior, Megan Desjardins bringing you the latest news on the Centenary gymnastics team! This was a very busy week for the Ladies! On Thursday, we volunteered at the South Highlands Elementary School fall carnival. It was exciting getting to volunteer as a team and help out the community. It’s always a good feeling when you make a difference in someone’s life.

It was also homecoming and alumni weekend at Centenary. We went to a lot of the homecoming events as a team like the gumbo cook off, the tailgate and the alumni baseball game. It was fun getting to spend time with each other and a great way for us to come together to support Centenary College. We had many alumni gymnasts come into town this weekend, including our seniors from last year Robyn Price and Christine Langston. They came into the gym to watch practice and of course jumped right back in there as if they had never left! We loved having them here and can’t wait to see them next time! Also, the 2006 National Champions Ladies gymnastics team was inducted into the Centenary Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend. We got to spend time with some of the 2006 alumni gymnasts over some pie from Strawn’s. It was so nice to get to meet them and hear some of their stories from their college days. Congratulations Ladies on getting inducted into the hall of fame!

This week in the gym we have been staying focused on being determined and confident at practices. We are starting to put together routine combinations and working really hard to make improvements. Shout out to senior, Noel Stubbs for doing her blind on the bars by herself and sophomore, Megan Frazzini who flipped vaults for the first time since her knee injury. I would also like to shout out junior Stephanie Strickler for staying strong through her ACL injury. She had surgery on Friday, but is on the road to recovery now! We can’t wait to start seeing her in the gym again! Way to go Ladies! All of our hard work and determination is going to pay off and I am looking forward to a great season this year! The Ladies are going to rock it out, so stay tuned for next week’s Gymtalk!

Thanks for all the support Ladies fans!
