Ladies finish tied for fifth at Abilene Intercollegiate

ABILENE, Texas – The Centenary women’s golf team finished tied for fifth at the Abilene Intercollegiate. The Ladies, who shot a 343 in the first round, fired a 358 in Tuesday’s final round to finish with a two-day score of 701.

Taylor Thompson led the Maroon and White with a 163 for the tournament which placed her tied for 14th. Thompson shot an 80 in the final round – her second best round of the season – to go along with her 83 in the opening round.

Jamie Wright finished two strokes back of Thompson in a tie for 16th. Wright shot an 82 in the final round to give her a 165 for the tournament. Gabrielle Ford finished tied for 26th with a two-day score of 177. Ford shot a 90 in the final round.

Lindsay Bain and Haley Nidey rounded out the Centenary squad. Bain finished tied for 38th with a 196 following a 106 in the final round while Nidey concluded with a 225 in 43rd with a 118 in the final round.

The University of Texas at Tyler claimed the team title with a 614 for the tournament. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor finished with a 630 in second place followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville in third with a 632. The host Hardin Simmons finished fourth with a 669. Centenary finished the tournament tied with Concordia University.

UMHB’s McKenzie Ralston won the individual crown with a 148 for the tournament. UTT claimed second and third. Marina Rhodes took second with a 151 while Jordan Sloane finished a stroke back of her teammate in third.
