Ladies, Gents stumble against Southwestern

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary swim teams dropped their home outing against Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon. The Gents fell 161-93 while the Ladies were topped 161-75.

Zack Harrison and Andrew Borel claimed event wins on the men’s side while Chelsea Russell earned the lone event victory on the women’s side. Harrison took the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.23 with Borel posting a time of 25.71 in the 50 yard breaststroke. Russell claimed the women’s 200 yard individual medley with a 2:17.49.

Harrison added a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.40 while Borel finished second in the 100 backstroke with a 57.17. Russell also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.23.

Kayla Thornhill and Kellen Bullock each added a pair of second place finishes. Thornhill recorded a time of 2:06.56 in the 200 yard freestyle and a 1:17.50 in the 100 breaststroke. Bullock posted a 29.74 in the 50 yard breaststroke and followed with a 1:06.47 in the 100 breaststroke.

Alex Taylor finished second in the 500 freestyle with a 5:45.75 and finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:27.72. Jane Barney rounded out the second place finishes for the Ladies with a 59.06 in the 100 freestyle.

Michael Pullano finished third in the men’s 50 breaststroke with a time of 30.83 with Erick Norem posting a 1:09.37 in the 100 breaststroke for third. Anthony McDonald finished third in the 500 freestyle with a 5:09.71 while Roberto Roig-Perez finished third in the 50 butterfly with a 25.22.

Caitlyn Faulhaber added a 25.55 in the 50 yard freestyle to finish third while Christy Wolterman rounded out the women’s side with a 5:46.94 for third in the 500 freestyle.

Centenary returns to the pool on Nov. 21-22 in the Trinity Shootout.
