GymTalk: Jordan Anderson
Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Hello Centenary gymnastics fans, this is sophomore Jordan Anderson coming to you with this week’s gym talk! This was the first week of practice we had coming back from our team retreat at Coach Jackie’s. We all have been working diligently as a team to focus on our team covenants, which are discipline, loyalty and fire.

A lot of people are starting to step up in putting together their routines and work on the details to get ready for our season opener in January. This Saturday at the end of practice coach Jackie had us do a beam intra-squad. This was the first time the Ladies have been put in a pressure situation this year. Junior, Megan Desjardins, started us off with a very confident hit routine. She is looking to be a strong returner for our beam line up. Also, there were some new faces in the line-up. Sophomore, Allison Scates, and freshman, Ashley White, both had really solid routines. Also Senior, Noel Stubbs, is working hard and her series is getting more consistent everyday!

The Ladies have been working on their new floor choreography for the season and all of the routines are looking really good. Coach Jackie has done a really good job of picking music for each of the girls that embodies their own personalities and you can really see that come out in each of the routines.

This week the Ladies went to a convocation held here on campus with Dr. Joel Fish. He talked about the mental aspect of the game and knowing what you need from your coaches and teammates to prepare you for success. This was a really good opportunity for the athletes to listen to a professional about the mental aspect of the game. He basically reinforced all that Coach Jackie has taught us through our mental choreography!

This week was a really good week for the Ladies with a lot of goals being accomplished throughout the gym! Stay tuned for next week’s gym talk!

Love y’all!

Jo
