IRVING, Texas – The Centenary women’s basketball team placed three in double-digit scoring, but the Ladies were edged by Elmira College 73-64 in the final contest of the University of Dallas Classic. The point total is the most this season for Centenary.

Jessica Bruti recorded her first contest in double digits for the Ladies (0-4). The freshman scored a season-high 15 points to finish second on the team in scoring. The Magnolia, Texas, native connected on 44.4 percent of her shots from the field with all four made buckets coming from behind the arc.

Briana Edwards paced the squad with 23 points and was one rebound shy of her second double-double of the season. The point total was the fourth straight double figure game for the Shreveport, La., native.

Linda Gomez Gil rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points marking the second outing of the season and the third of her career.

The Ladies recorded season-highs in 3-pointer (33.3) and free-throw (60.9) percentage and registered a season-high 10 steals.

Danielle Cleary led a quartet of Soaring Eagles with double figures. Cleary posted 17 points with Madison Carolus adding 15. Meghan Loya recorded 14 points to compliment her team-best nine rebounds. Karli Pochkar supplied 12 points.

The Purple and Gold shot 44.6 percent from the field including a 57.1 clip from behind the arc. The Soaring Eagles also connected on 78.6 from the charity stripe. EC also held a 43-38 advantage on the glass in the win.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 29 as it hosts LeTourneau University. Tip is slated for 2 p.m.
