Gents fifth, Ladies sixth at Trinity Western Shootout

SOUTHLAKE, Texas – The Centenary men’s swim team finished fifth at the Trinity University Western Shootout while the women’s swim team finished sixth. The Gents gathered 261 points with the Ladies garnering 203.5 points.

Zack Harrison finished fifth in the 100 free with a time of 48.97 and added a sixth place finish in the men’s 500 yard free with a time of 4:59.40 and a ninth place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.78. Juan Tapia finished eighth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:28.09. Tapia added a pair of ninth place finishes in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:06.17) and the 200 fly (2:04.39). Kellen Bullock finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.10.

Beau Montgomery added a 10th place finish for the men in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.56. Cameron Brandao and Andrew Borel finished eighth and 10th respectively in the 200 back. Brandao posted a 2:09.38 with Borel adding a 2:09.60. Anthony McDonald added to the men’s total with a seventh place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:22.55.

Chelsea Russell finished fifth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:14.05. Russell later added a sixth place finish in the women’s 200 yard individual medley (2:19.32), a 1:03.25 in the 100 butterfly to finished sixth,  and a 1:03.50 in the 100 back to finish eighth.

Kayla Thornhill finished tied for sixth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.13. Alex Taylor and Christy Wolterman finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 1650 freestyle. Taylor recorded a time of 19:49.09 with Wolterman adding a 20:02.89.

Centenary returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 10 as they travel to Austin College. Meet time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
