MEMPHIS – The Centenary women’s basketball team fell 81-42 at Rhodes College on Saturday afternoon. The decision improves Rhodes to 6-1 on the season while the Ladies move to 0-7 on the campaign.

Briana Edwards led the Maroon and White with 11 points in the contest marking her fifth outing in double figures this season. The Shreveport, La., junior also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds in the effort. Edwards also added three blocks to move her to third all-time with 91.

Symone Daniels and Erin Deery proved the catalyst for the Lynx. Daniels led the squad with 12 points and pulled down a team-leading nine boards. Deery led a Rhodes bench that scored 57 of the team’s points with 11.

Rhodes, which held a 44-18 advantage at the intermission, grabbed its largest lead with 8:23 to play as Jessie Upstick scored on a layup to give the Lynx a 68-24 lead.

Centenary shot just 26 percent from the field in the contest and was 60 percent from the charity stripe. Rhodes connected on just shy of 45 percent from the floor including hitting half its shots from behind the arc (7-for-14) and posted a 77.8 clip from the free throw line.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 8 as they travel to Louisiana State University-Alexandria. Tip is slated for 5 p.m.
