SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s basketball team picked up a 104-88 victory over Rust College on Friday evening. Five Gents (4-6) scored in double-digits led by Kendall Demouchet’s 24 points. Rust falls to 4-7 on the campaign.

The triple-digit total marks the first time the Maroon and White broke the century mark since Feb. 18 of last season against Open Bible College (107-79).

Demouchet’s point total is the second highest for the sophomore this season as he scored a career-high 31 in the season opener at Lewis and Clark.

James Sapp tied his career-mark in the contest scoring 21 points while Caden Cheramie added 14 points for Centenary. Brandon Campbell posted a season-high 12 points – one short of tying his career-best set against the Bearcats on Jan. 5 last season.

Justin Cueto rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points while grabbing a team-leading eight rebounds. The double-digit scoring outing marks the third straight for the freshman.

Leading 43-38 at the half, Centenary scored 61 points in the second half – bettering RC by 11 points in the stanza. The 61 points marks the most points in a half by the Gents this season as they shot a season-best 58.5 percent from the field en route to the win.

Centenary also tied a season-high on the glass grabbing 39 rebounds – tying the mark against East Texas Baptist earlier this season. The rebounding effort also marks the second time in the last three contests that the Gents have out-rebounded their opponent.

Domonic Hudson led RC with 20 points off the bench. Fredick Fairman grabbed a team-best five rebounds and added 11 points. Rick McCollum and Johnathan Bownes each supplied 13 points for the Blue and White in the loss.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 13 as they travel to Division I University of Louisiana at Lafayette for an exhibition outing before breaking for the holiday break. Tip at UL is slated for 2 p.m. The Gents return to regular season play on Jan. 2 as they host Colorado College in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
