GymTalk: Saxon Reaux
Monday, January 5, 2015

Hey Ladies fans,

This is sophomore, Saxon Reaux bringing you the latest news on the Centenary Gymnastics team! As we finished this semester off strong, we were able to accomplish our highest grade point average of a 3.32 as a team. Leading into Christmas break, we were really focusing on our team core covenants, which are fire, discipline, and loyalty. We have also been putting routines together and getting ready for our first meet at the Gold Dome!

This past week we had the opportunity to go home for part of our Christmas break to see our families and friends. Everyone was really excited to go home to see their loved ones, especially after working hard for finals. While we were all home we stayed focus on our core covenants, gymnastics, and conditioning. We also kept in touch with each other and reported back to our accountability partners on how our day of practice was! Although the time at home is short and our last time to go home until summer, we were all very excited to come back together. We arrived back on December 30th ready to practice that night. It’s always great getting back from a break and reuniting with your teammates. With our first home meet against Texas Women’s University coming in twelve days, we are pushing ourselves every day and keeping our goals at the forefront of everything we do.

Today at practice we got a sneak peek at our new competition warm ups we will be receiving soon! It is always exciting to get new leotards and warm ups!! Over break we had to read two chapters from our team book called Mind Gym. Both chapters discussed having realistic goals so you can obtain success. We had questions over both chapters and we later discussed the chapters at practice. We drew out a ladder and broke it into thirds, which represent different dates of the season. Then we wrote what goals we needed to achieve by certain meets to reach our ultimate goal of making and winning nationals.

Our team is so committed this year and everyone is giving their all! I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us, and see what we achieve as a team! Along with making these goals we got our monthly calendar and we are busy this upcoming January. For the rest of break we will continue to prepare for season and bond as a team and family. We got to spend New Year’s Eve at the Lake Shack. We had a nice home cooked dinner from Jackie, and we also did our secret Santa gift exchange.

Also, if you guys didn’t know we got a team room on campus!! Over break we get to decorate it and make it our own. We are so excited to have a place to call our own on campus since we have to practice at an off campus facility. Thanks again to our AD Mrs. Seagraves for helping in the process of getting us this locker room, we really appreciate it!

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to all of my teammates for being committed and working so hard! I would also like to thank our fans for being such a great support. We love y’all so much and can’t wait to see you on January 10th in the Gold Dome.

Until next time,

Sax
