Gents third, Ladies fourth heading toward final day of SCAC Championships

ROCKWALL, Texas – The Centenary men’s swim team sits in third heading into the final day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with 389 points while the women are fourth with 232 points.

Juan Tapia recorded the first points on the Gents’ side with a fourth place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:13.40. Beau Montgomery added a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, the second highest finisher, with a time of 50.39 while Arah Ataei finished sixth in the event with a time of 52.47 and Roberto Roig-Perez in eighth with a 52.97.

Zack Harrison added an eighth place finish in the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:45.34. Kellen Bullock led a trio of Gents in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 59.22 to finish third in the event. Anthony McDonald added a time of 59.71 to finish sixth with Michael Pullano in eighth with a time of 1:00.35.

Chelsea Russell garnered the top finish for the Ladies with a time of 59.01 in the 100-backstroke to finish third. Andrew Borel added a sixth place finish in the men’s 100-back with a time of 53.66.

The women’s 400-medley relay team of Sharon Randolph, Chloe Snow, Jane Barney and Caitlyn Faulhaber finished fifth with a time of 4:34.39 while the men’s 400-medley relay team of Borel, Bullock, Montgomery and Harrison finished third with a time of 3:30.91.

The final day of the championships are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14.
