SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball team closed its regular season with an 80-65 loss to Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon.

Jessica Bruti led the Ladies with a career-high 17 points. The double figure scoring effort marked the fourth this season for the freshman and her third in the last four outings.

DeiAnna Hall tallied 13 points off the bench – her eighth of the season – while Rebecca Thompson added 11 points in the decision – her 12th on the campaign. Briana Edwards paced the Maroon and White on the glass with 15 rebounds.

The Ladies led by three points at the intermission, but SU turned up the pressure in the second stanza to force a total of 16 turnovers in the contest, including four in the opening moments following the break.

The Pirates continued the pressure as they amassed their largest lead of the game, 20 points, with 3:52 left.

Audrey Garcia and Madison Eschle led SU with 14 points each while Jordan Owens and Olivia Podaras each added 11 points. Annie Bourne cleared the glass for the Black and Gold with 13 boards.

Centenary finishes the season 0-24 on the season.
