SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team opened the 2015 season with a doubleheader sweep of Rust College downing the squad 15-0, 15-1.

Codi Coghlan and Lizzie Moran paced the Ladies in the twinbill with a .800 average at the dish. They combined for four hits and three RBI each in the twinbill. Anna Dunn and Cadie Hancock tied for the team-lead in RBI with six each in the affair.

Haley Miller went 3-for-4 at the plate while Dunn hit .714. As a squad, nine hitters tallied averages of .333 or better for the doubleheader.

Miller and Laura Perilloux recorded complete game outings in the pair of wins. Perilloux tallied a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts in her five innings in the circle. Miller compiled five innings in her first collegiate outing. Miller allowed one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts. Combined, the two hurlers held Rust to a .139 average at the plate.

Centenary returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 19 as it hosts Southwestern Assemblies of God University in a doubleheader scheduled for 4 p.m. The outings originally scheduled at Belhaven University on Tuesday, Feb. 17 has been postponed for a future date.
