White claims third all-around title; Ladies fall at TWU

DENTON, Texas – Centenary gymnast Ashley White claimed the all-around title at the dual meet at Texas Woman’s University with a score of 38.775. The all-around title is her third of the season. The Ladies fell 192.825-189.600 to TWU.

The Houston, Texas, native, posted season-highs on bars (9.675), beam (9.725) and floor (9.800) en route to her season-high score in all-around. The freshman finished tied for fourth on bars and tied for third on beam as she claimed second on floor.

Allison Scates posted season-high scores in three of the four events to finish fourth in all-around. Scates tallied a 9.625 on vault to finish seventh, a 9.675 on bars to finish tied for fourth and 9.575 on beam to finish sixth.

Noel Stubbs led the Ladies on vault as the senior finished second in the event. Stubbs posted a 9.725 to match her previous season-high on the season. Kellie Slater and Saxon Reaux each recorded season-bests on floor exercise. Slater tallied a 9.750 to finish fourth while Reaux finished tied for sixth with a 9.650.

The Maroon and White tied a season-high on vault with a score of 47.900 and recorded a new best on floor with a time 48.375.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Feb. 27 as it competes in the first of two meets at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Meet time is slated for 10 p.m. central.
