Centenary Netters fall to McMurry

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary tennis teams hosted McMurry University on Friday afternoon. Both squads fell in 9-0 fashion to the War Hawks.

Stafford Lyons provided the spark for the Gents as recorded a point in singles play before falling 6-1, 6-0 to Dani Perez. Lyons teamed with Andrew Borel in the top spot in doubles’ action as the duo fell 8-1.

On the women’s side the pairing of Katie Cornwell and Katelyn Alexander battled with MMU’s Jessica Bentley and Dana LeMieux before falling 8-4. Alexander also competed with Bentley in the No. 3 singles’ slot before dropping a 6-0, 6-3 decision. Laura Beurlot also put forth a strong effort in No. 1 singles falling 7-5, 6-1 to Chloe Patterson.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Mar. 7 as it welcomes Shreiner University. Match time is slated for 10 a.m.
